Moving in Sylmar
Sylmar sits at the very top of the San Fernando Valley, against the San Gabriel Mountains. It began as olive groves and grew after the 5 and 405 interchange opened and later the 210 and 118 freeways reached it. City planners once described its image as one of houses, horses and orchards, and parts of it still have corrals on large lots and trails into the mountains.
Alongside those lots are newer tracts, condos and apartments, plus the Olive View Medical Center. The Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink station is close by.

Large lots and long drives
Some homes sit far back from the street. Tell us how far the truck can get from the front door so the crew size matches the carry.
Equestrian streets
Horse trails and riders share some streets. The crew watches for them when backing in, and it helps to know if there is a gate that must stay closed.
Freeway junction traffic
The 5, 405, 210 and 118 meet near Sylmar. We pick a start time that keeps the truck out of the worst of it.
Wind and heat
The north Valley can be hot and windy. Pack lamp shades, plants and loose items so they do not blow around during loading.
Parking and permits in Sylmar
Street parking here follows City of Los Angeles rules. On streets near Foothill Boulevard and the freeway ramps, the truck needs a spot that does not block traffic lanes. LADOT permit districts post rules limiting parking by vehicles without permits, and even permit holders must still observe red zones and street cleaning.
