Movers in Granada Hills
Granada Hills is a north Valley neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles, at the foot of the Santa Susana Mountains. Here is what to plan for when you move there, from Kobe Moving in Van Nuys.
About Granada Hills
Granada Hills grew out of the Sunshine Ranch, a dairy farm and orchard, and today runs up to the foothills of the Santa Susana Mountains. The Ronald Reagan Freeway (the 118) crosses its southern part, and the Van Norman Reservoir, the southern end of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, sits at its eastern edge.
Two areas stand out for movers. Balboa Highlands is a tract of homes built by the developer Joseph Eichler, and the Knollwood area grew around the Knollwood Country Club. Toward the mountains the streets start to climb, so the address tells us a lot about the day.
Local moving notes
- Eichler homes in Balboa HighlandsEichler houses are known for walls of glass and open plans. Large panes near the path in and out need extra care, and furniture has to be turned through rooms rather than hallways. Mention the glass on the quote form.
- North of the 118Streets closer to the foothills can be steeper, and some driveways are sloped. A photo of the driveway helps us choose the truck and plan the carry.
- Knollwood and golf course streetsIf your street is curved or ends in a cul-de-sac, there is less room for a truck to turn. Tell us if the truck has to back in or park around a corner.
- Hot afternoonsThe north Valley gets very warm in summer. Morning starts are easier on the crew and on candles, electronics and plants.
From Van Nuys, Granada Hills is straight north by the 405 to the 118, or up Balboa Boulevard.

Parking and permits in Granada Hills
Street parking here follows City of Los Angeles rules. On a hillside street, the truck should stand where it is level and legal, which may not be right at the driveway. On streets LADOT posts as Oversize Vehicle Restricted Areas, a vehicle over 22 feet long or 84 inches tall may not park from 2:00 to 6:00 AM without a permit, so a loaded truck should not sit there overnight.

Questions about moving in Granada Hills
Can you protect large windows in an Eichler home?
Tell us about the glass walls and sliding doors on the quote form. The crew protects the path and moves large pieces with the glass in mind.
Do you move from Granada Hills to Porter Ranch?
Yes. The two neighborhoods border each other, so most of the day is loading and unloading.
