About Westlake Village
Westlake Village is named after the master-planned community around Westlake Lake, and that community straddles the Los Angeles and Ventura county line. The City of Westlake Village is the Los Angeles County part. More than half of the original Westlake development lies west of the line, inside the city of Thousand Oaks. The boundary crosses the Westlake Golf Course and runs through the lake itself.
The area is also home to many large commercial offices. Coastal breezes through the canyons can keep it noticeably cooler than the San Fernando Valley in summer.

Parking and permits in Westlake Village
Westlake Village is a separate city, not part of the City of Los Angeles, so its own city parking rules apply within limits set by state law. On the Thousand Oaks side, that city's rules apply instead. The Vehicle Code gives local governments power over where heavy commercial vehicles park on residential streets, with an exception for pickups and deliveries of goods at a building on the street.
